The Closing Company

Seemingly, the role of the closing agent is simple – just go through list of documents, say “sign here” and confirm all the documents are signed.  What most buyers and sellers miss is the professional team behind the “closer” and the behind-the-scenes skills of the closer.  Prior to the closing meeting, the closing company may have spent 10’s or 100’s of hours analyzing the transaction; preparing and gathering documents; and coordinating the closing responsibilities of the buyer and seller, their agents, the title company and the financial institution.

When selecting a closing company, look for the following:

Longevity...................... An indication of doing things right for a sustained length of time

Experience................... The tenure of the team of professionals.  Are they green or been around the block?

Relationships................ Is the closing company well known in the real estate and financial industries?  Good relationships will smooth the process and facilitate problem resolution.

Smarts......................... The closing company should be a group of real estate closing specialists.

Discipline..................... Gathering and organizing the “mountains” of documents and coordinating the process takes hard work, thoroughness, patience and focus.  In other words, discipline.

Leadership................... The closing is the “foot-hold” for your real estate future.  Use a leader that can make the process simple, accurate and efficient.

Systems...................... Modern technology cannot replace skill and character, but it can facilitate the work of the closing company for you.

Just like any professional, a good closing company and its agent will make your CLOSING look easy.
